Allegiant (6)

The book I am reading right now is called Allegiant. I chose this book because it is the last book in the 'Divergent' series I was reading. I've read the first two books in the series and I’m now reading the third. I also chose to read this book because the other books had amazing detail and kept you turning pages not wanting to put the book down. An example of some of the detail in this book is:

“The train slows down when we get closer to the fence, a signal from the driver that we should get off soon. Tobias and I sit in the doorway of the car as it moves lazily over the tracks. He puts his arm around me and touches his nose to my hair, taking a breath. I look at him, at the collarbone peeking out from the neck of his T-shirt, at the faint curl of his lip, and I feel something heating up inside me” (88).

The books also kept a continuous story line going, but never got less interesting. They either left you hanging, or gave you important information at the end of the book. At the end of ‘Insurgent’, they gave you a piece or information that could change the whole story. This is one vital thing that made me want to keep reading. If I told you what that information was though, I would spoil the whole book, so if you want to find out, you’ll just have to read it for yourself. One other thing that made me what to read this book is that the cover stood out to me. If I see a cover with a bright cover, it would draw my attention more easily than a dull book cover would.

One more thing that made me choose this book was that the movie for the first book was coming out. I’m looking forward to see the movie, and therefore wanted to finish all the books so that I knew exactly what happened. I hope that you chose to read this book if you haven’t already because I guarantee you that you will like it.

"Princess Plot" or Not (5)

The book I'm reading right now is called 'The Princess Plot'. Its a really interesting book with many twists and turns. One thing that i have really like about the book is how much detail the author uses. The book is written by Kristen Boie and she's really good at using detail. This is how she describes a man driving along the roads views:

"He saw the figure long before he reached it, for at this point in the journey the road climbed straight up a hill, as if it had been drawn with a ruler. Someone was huddled by the roadside, brown and gray like the dirt, and for a fraction of a second he was afraid there might have been an accident, that an injured person was lying there. But then the figure sprang up, and he saw the typical gesture. Someone wanted a ride" (Boie 74).

I think that this quote uses a lot of descriptive detail that makes it easier to picture exactly what the character is seeing. I think that she could have improved the quote by adding more sensory detail like sounds. I think that the detail in this book makes it better and more interesting to read. There are also many more good things about the book, but you'll have to read it to find out.
